The waters of the seven sacred falls have become polluted. Yukari suffers, and Himari offers herself as a sacrifice to the dragon god, Ryujin. Then Himari, Hayato, and some girls from school go to a cursed rock, and Aoi must go to Kasha for some answers.

The back cover of this volume only teases the first story, which is a lot more visual and in-your-face. However, the volume is fairly evenly split in two, with the second story being much more subtle, but still having some very interesting and important character development and interactions. I was very surprised by a few things!

I loved seeing Yukari's true water-serpent form. I was expecting more of a snake (like Mizuki in Kamisama Kiss), but given the history we learn in this issue, his true form makes much more sense. I also loved that we get a peek into the heart of a god, at the loneliness of that role. There's an extremely touching reunion scene! There are a few wonderful "family" interaction scenes as well, and I especially loved seeing Ise concerned / relieved regarding Yukari.

There's a mini-story in the middle of this volume where Himari is dealing her classmates thinking she has magical powers like a Shinto priestess. It's sort of funny, but it's also easy to see Himari's frustration, stress, and desire to fit in by appeasing her classmates. The "scare dare" ending was a good way to shift things again.

The second main story in this volume creates a potential love triangle, and I can't say I'm disappointed. I was glad to see that the jealousy of Himari's female classmates is eventually overcome and they apologize for their actions. Both stories hint at a new mystery that is the real reason Aoi went to Kasha (though the kiss / romance angle of the situation with Himari also played a role). I was surprised the Nue did as Kasha requested, but I'm also not sure I quite understood what happened in that regard (or if the Nue understood what Kasha really wanted going into it) -- I hope it's expanded on in future issues. Why does Kasha have that room? Why can't Kasha just do as he pleases in the room either? So much mystery dropped in just a few pages!

A strong issue with excitement, adventure, drama, romance, and more! I'm not sure if the plot developed, but some characters did!
