There is some bonus material, building on the pages in the previous issue, explaining how the comic is made. I like these as a bonus, and that they use the characters to explain it.
Arriving at "horror house", one of the kids says,"That's a lot of zombies", but we only see three zombies! They could have filled the grounds with them! It would have been a stronger visual and worked better with the text. At least they actually do fight a lot of zombies on their way into the house as well as within. The suits of armor hallway fits well with the Scooby-Doo! type horror of this series, but I seriously doubt there would have been real corpses in those suits. And even if I were to believe that, it doesn't make sense that they aren't walking around like all the other zombies and only move when the kids are halfway through the hall.
I did like getting to see a scene from behind the wall / painting with the eyes cut out. It was a nice twist on how that trope is usually used. The dual personality conversation makes good use of the darkness behind the wall / painting and the eye cut-outs above the figure. The quicksand inside the greenhouse is a bit much, even for a "horror house".
The scene with Mad Scientist Mason and the flower was quite unexpected! I'm also not sure what happened. Why do the kids stop doing anything (except waiting for help to arrive) once this scene happens? Shouldn't they still be trying to stop the zombies? And ... it's over!? Where did all these adults come from? Who were the zombies if not the townsfolk? How is everything okay now? I'm so confused as to how and why things wrapped so quickly. It's disappointing. Mason mentions a mysterious "them", and the kids decide to follow that lead, formally, as the "Ghoul Scouts", which is great, but this part of the arc definitely needed another issue at least to do justice to the zombie conclusion. As it is, it's a flop, and I feel I've wasted my time getting into the first three issues.
