Asuka and Ryu have trouble scheduling time to see each other let alone get to actually do anything when they do have some time.

I love the pacing in this story. There's a pleasant build in tension and frustration and closeness. It culminates in love-making, but it's more than that. There are realizations on both sides, and both, by the end of this volume, are a bit more receptive to at least thinking about the option their partner prefers. I also love that Asuka wants to take it slow, but not because she's a prude or inexperienced. Rather, she takes being sensual as a serious part of a relationship. And, given how her last relationship went, she's taking this one more directly by genuinely assessing what she wants, what she's okay with, and being open about that from day one. She's very understanding and supportive, but she finds her own ways to be forward, which I like.

This volume focuses more on Ryu's work and schedule. He lets it take priority over the relationship, but what's great is that he's bothered by that now and he hasn't been when in previous relationships. He's awkward at handling it when he tries to make time (they have to schedule a date more than a week in advance to even see each other!), which causes problems, but it also makes him more conscious of how he really feels. I also appreciate the viewpoints from others that let us know how he's matured. This is great character building, and lets us know he's more relationship material than playboy now.

I also like that we get to see them both suffering in the aftermath of their first fight. I was glad to see her hold out and not call him, which irked him. At the same time, I love that she showed up to surprise him -- and that he doesn't realize it till after he tries calling her!

Ona and Rio play a smaller role in this volume, but it's insightful and helps round out a few things. Plus, it's good to see things from the perspective of mutual friends.

This manga is fascinating with how it's looking at relationships -- realistically and seriously, but still romantic and engaging.
