Kimberly convinces Goldar to work together to escape Typhonis and take down Verto. Zordon is fading fast, but there's a plan to give Kimberly a full team of Rangers.

I'm not surprised that Goldar wants to fight, even in such a desperate situation. It seems he's shortsighted, but when Kimberly mentions his plans he backs off. I'm intrigued by what his plans might be -- what bigger picture he's aiming for. I'm glad we get some insight into Kimberly's thoughts as well as her words to Goldar, as it rounds out her logic and shows us where she's compromising in order to save her mom and the others. Being able to use Kimberly's Firebird zord is way too convenient, though I like how she needs Goldar to free it from Typhonis with enough energy to work, and that it only serves as an escape pod rather than giving Kimberly the upper hand against Verto (at least since she won't kill him).

I was pleasantly surprised with Serge and his sister getting to be temporary Power Rangers (and huzzah for a female Red Ranger!). They've definitely demonstrated the right qualities while helping the townspeople escape, including when Serge put himself directly in the fray to rescue the Black Ranger. While I'm sure Zordon will pull through, I have a hard time accepting the logic used. Wouldn't they want to keep Zordon with his powers so all the Rangers (including the ones doing battle elsewhere) can keep fighting!? What happens if they rescue these people because of his sacrifice, but many more perish because his powers are used up? Not that they'd let that happen in this story, but they completely gloss over the possibility and the threat. Also, Alpha-5 says there's good and bad news, but only gives the good news .... What's the bad news?? My guess is we'll never know.

I'm uncertain how much time passes in the last few pages of this issue. It seems they have an unusual plethora of time in which to set some traps and plan before Verto and Typhonis show up. And why is Kimberly surprised to see Typhonis? She knew it was under Verto's control, and she left it functioning when she escaped from it ...

A fairly solid issue that mostly functions to transition from the mid-point climax to the next section where they're allowed to regroup, plan, and gain strength. With two issues left to go, I'm curious how things will wrap up.
