Sweet Lullaby opens with a blonde woman named Michelle returning home after a long ride on her bike. She is accosted by a neighbor, Mason, who wants to sleep with her despite him having a wife. Michelle rebuffs his advances by killing him with a lawnmower.

After that rather blunt opening, we learn Michelle is a contract killer by the name of Lullaby, hired to take down bad guys. The comic flips between Lullaby's current missions and flashbacks to when she was a young girl, learning the killing tradecraft from her father, who is also a contract killer.

Now I understand the irony of the title. The tone of this comic is rather odd. One the one hand, we get a rather touching father / daughter dynamic, as they clearly love each other and like spending time with each other. On the other hand, both are blasé about their profession, killing people in whatever ways are suitable for the mission. I'm not entirely comfortable with that kind of dynamic, since I'm not entirely sure if I'm supposed to be rooting for them or not, despite the fact that supposedly the get rid of the scumbags of society and in such gruesome methods.

I also was uncomfortable that they clearly like to show Lullaby with spectacular boobs and butt, with one series of panels I thought were close to panty-shots. It was distracting to say the least.

The artwork and coloring are fine, although often the faces switch from looking pretty natural achieving anime-levels of stretching and distortion.

I'm on the fence with this one, I can't heartily recommend it nor dismiss it. This is one where your mileage will certainly vary.
