Goldie and Walter learn that Cheryl has her own car and has been winning pageants in order to raise money for her dream school. They follow the leads with a little help from Diane, and a lot of quick-thinking from Goldie, who sets in motion a change for the pageant.

We finally get a date for this setting!!! Circa 1963. That would have really helped me in the first issues, but I'm glad to have it now. It still has many modern / progressive aspects, which only enrich the story and make the characters more likable.

I love how all the clues lead to more clues but in a way that's encouraging rather than frustrating. There's a pleasant build, and I like what we learn about Cheryl and the mystery woman. So many things from the previous issue now make sense, all while framing the main mystery at the core of all this. I also love Diane's mini-flashback, which is insightful into her as a character and empowering to read. The pageant scene is refreshingly accepting of a newcomer, and I hope we get to see what their new outfits look like. I also like that the girls in the pageant are capable of changing their own outfits, hair, and make-up on the fly like that. It all fits with the progressive nature of this comic.

Walter is a great side-kick, and it almost makes me forget that he's a responsible adult. His blushing at the thought of his crush and reactions when a woman makes moves on him are adorable.

I like the twist to the astronaut angle that's introduced as a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see how this mystery continues to unfold.
