(Note: This comic series was originally titled Rise of the Antichrist; the title has changed with this issue. It will be available on January 18th.)

Michael addresses a crowd that has gathered to love him -- but they get more from him than they bargained for, spurring a showdown between him and Adam! Also, Michael is confronted by an old friend.

As usual, the cover is quite stunning!

I love how Michael unintentionally twists scripture throughout the issue, taking what is supposed to be comforting words and making them terrifying just by way of his interpretation -- and by his actions based on that. It's hard to argue with his logic, given that no one is willing to be a voluntary sacrifice -- his claims about dying for him being the way to heaven can't be disproven!

I love the showdown, the words exchanged even as they fight physically. Even better is the meet-up with Michael's old friend, the guy who got him put in the mental ward. Michael treats his friend like Michael wants to be treated, and does what he does with good intentions, but it goes very wrong -- just as his friend got Michael committed with the best of intentions, and that went very wrong. You know what they say about the road to Hell … I love how that's the theme of the issue, and how it's played with. One has to worry if the situation Adam finds himself in with Noa will likewise turn out to be a case of good intentions going wrong, in multiple ways.

This is the last issue of the first volume! While it has a sense of closure, there's a coda at the end of the issue that suggests very interesting things could lie ahead. I hope people support the series, so we can see the next stage!
