The half-dragon ally gets the group to Fireshear, where they have just enough time to get healed and start refreshing themselves, when the frost giants attack. Nerys has a wound she won't let the healers see. Krydle turns the tide of battle by freeing a captive dragon.

I like that this comic opens with a recap of the events from issue #1, as well as character bios, though it would have been nice if it had been updated to include a character bio of the dragon-man.

Nerys's actions and attitude certainly make me suspicious ... and concerned. Is she hiding this from her friends, too? I assume it will affect things later, and I'm quite curious as to how. I love seeing her in her wolf headdress (it gives her a more sinister and mysterious appearance fitting with her being a cleric for the God of Death) and getting a better feel for her personality.

The griffon riders were a surprise. Too bad the whole skirmish was rather dull. In an attempt to capture the size difference between the giants and the rest, actual action was sacrificed. Even the two-page spread capturing a moment in the battle, failed to engage me in the battle. The most impressive scenes feature the dragon, and I like how she basically remained neutral, only exacting a bit of revenge / helping out because she was freed by Krydle. The leader of the frost giant's makes a comment about where she flies off to and his plan, which tells me we should be looking forward to more dragon scenes in this arc!

We don't get a better feel for any of the characters, and Minsc's manner of speaking almost seems forced, like the writer was trying to get a character to do something not in their nature. He reads as very odd, which may be partially his manner of speaking (and thinking?), and partially his personality. Boo, the hamster, provides a couple points of humor.

Excellent art. The coloring uses a lot of blues, yet the specific shades and how they're used and framed makes each pop appropriately for what they color (sea, sky, snow, giants, dragon, etc.).

I would have liked the battle to be more engaging. The dragon appeases me, but doesn't quite make up for the dullness of the overall fight. I'll give it at least one more issue, but at this point I'm mostly curious about the dragon and not the main characters.
