Goldie and Sugar investigate why a saboteur is trying to cheat for Sugar, and they're in for a shock. How does Sugar's older sister fit into all this?

The first half of this issue is pretty heavy on character development, mostly on Sugar and her relationship with Goldie (thanks to some humorous thought balloons from Goldie). It's quite relevant since the situation has turned unexpectedly to point toward a saboteur who wants Sugar to win. Sugar also admits to hiring guys to run Goldie off the road in order to manipulate Goldie into helping her, but Goldie is always quick-witted. She turns things to her advantage for the case while also finding her own way to point out to Sugar better ways to interact with people.

I love that Goldie and Sugar have to work together (with Goldie in the lead) to finish solving the case of sabotage. The sabotage being in favor of Sugar speaks mostly of the views on women's capability in the time period this is set in, which surprised me since we hadn't seen any of that till now. I wasn't expecting it to take the turns that it did, but I love that it opened up a whole new mystery in the process -- the underlying reason that led to the reason for sabotage. I'm excited to learn about Sugar's sister and how that angle with be resolved. I'm also worried about Sugar and the race, and I am totally in love with Goldie's realization (in the conversation with her dad) about happiness and life and how money doesn't really bring happiness.

I also like that the story worked Walt (and his FBI girlfriend) in, as I enjoy those characters and they keep Goldie tied to her main job at the hotel.

The developments (plot and character) in this issue are just one of the reasons this is a stand-out series.
