I probably should have expected the reveal, but I didn't and am okay with that. I like how Shakespeare's stories overlap and intermingle in Kill Shakespeare. What was an unpleasant shock was his actions that created the cliffhanger. I hope he makes things right, though I guess that depends on whether this arc of Juliet's life is a tragedy just like her previous arc ....
All of that aside, I loved his willingness to teach and the advice he gives Juliet. The fight between Juliet (trained by her bodyguard during a few hours) and a male braggart (trained for a month or more by an egotistical soldier) is excellent. There's humor in the training and fight, but my favorite part is that Juliet goes against her instinct and follows the instruction she was given. Perhaps she will show the same tactical restraint in other matters moving forward, which would certainly make her more interesting than her current bloodthirsty state. However, I didn't like that he brushed aside her comparison of their situations; yes, they are different, but he reacted to her youth more than anything else. They are alike in that their crimes of passion haunt them.
This is a good third issue, which gives Juliet some training and introduces two twists!
