Akito meets Asuka's family, who are shocked that she's not dating him! Asuka's brother meets Ryu, and he's not impressed. He goes with them as they hunt for a home to share together. The one they pick just happens to be in the same complex as Akito!

I was shocked, as was Asuka, by her mother's thoughts on being a worker versus a housewife. I'm also disappointed that they never had this talk before, given how obsessed Asuka is with the idea of being a housewife (and the traditional / expected role of women leaving their jobs to become housewives). We know Asuka loves her job; she takes a special promotion without a thought to anything or anyone else (including herself, her relationship with Ryu, and her dream, which I'm sure will come back to bite her). However, the happiness and warmth she experiences with Akito and her family is unlike anything we've seen her experience with Ryu ... ever.

I was glad that Akito stood up for Ryu to Asuka's parents. Akito may be pushy when it comes to Asuka and trying to win her over, but he appreciates a level playing field. He also wants Asuka to make up her own mind. I still don't care for his pushiness, which has definitely stepped over the line a few times, but he's growing on me, and I hope on Asuka. I think Asuka's brother understands the two men perfectly: Akito is a gentleman and Ryu is fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants. I'm grateful for his impressions and thoughts, and I hope he continues to be a voice of reason.

I was also shocked that Asuka and Ryu decide to move in together. It seems like Asuka is pretending pretty hard and living in an imaginary world with regard to her life with Ryu and her marriage goal. She even comments to herself on how it can't be bad to spend some time envisioning them married, but there's some question in it which makes it seem like she's in denial of the facts of their relationship. And all of that is before the fact that their relationship has to stay very secret, which isn't healthy in the long run even though outing themselves would be bad for them (mostly Asuka) for the moment. I actually love that the place they pick is in Akito's building! This creates so many new facets to explore and sparks even more jealousy in Ryu; I don't like his jealousy or how he likes to "punish" Asuka, usually sexually, when his jealousy flares -- that's a dangerous relationship, and she doesn't even see it! I love Ryu in his glasses, though I don't understand why he takes them off to kiss Asuka. I hate that he's already presenting to her the drunken businessman stereotype (he's drunk a lot when he meets up with her in this volume).

The cliffhanger will certainly put several things to the test, and could push Asuka and / or Ryu to reconsider both work and relationship goals.
