The team regroups, then infiltrates the frost giant's new stronghold to steal back the dragon's eggs.

The regrouping scene is a necessary transition. It's done as quickly as possible while conveying important points for continuity and planning. The gryphon scene is also short, but provides an alternative "action" scene with the stealthy dismounts from the backs of gryphons to the frost giants' ship. We don't get a good feel for the size difference at that point, but wait a couple panels and we get a good sense of scale. The only conflict to that reality is how quickly the heroes are able to go from the ship to inside the stronghold, but it's plot convenience to keep things moving towards the main plot point. The fight against the winter wolf is the most exciting part of this issue, and it doesn't disappoint! I appreciate that Minsc tries to win it over without violence first ... and that he deals the final blow. It works in a surprising touch to the character who is mostly portrayed as the dumb jock ... even if his friendship approach highlights his naivety.

The icy blue coloring is really wonderful in this issue; it gives a real sense of cold while still allowing for lots of depth.

This penultimate issue ends on quite the cliffhanger; that's one thing this series is quite good at. It's a bit hard to justify this issue on its own due to the shallowness in dealing with characters, but it fits in well in the overall story.
