Ximena rescues Raven and searches for Sunshine. Katie and the women defend themselves against a group of male pirates. Katie knows their leader, so the fight takes a personal turn.

I love that Desideria tells the truth to Ximena when asked why they're dancing together; it perfectly conveys Desideria's attitude and feelings, especially coupled with her expression. However, having Ximena ask why now rather than when Desideria asked her to dance seems a little odd; it makes me wonder why she's suddenly curious rather than just enjoying it, or why she agreed to dance at all.

The cover is amazing, featuring Ximena doing a swan dive off the ship. I must admit I was disappointed that she jumps off the ship feet-first in the actual story. I am glad that Ximena searched for Sunshine as hard as she did, setting aside any personal feelings. The ending with regards to Ximena, Raven, and Sunshine is a nail-biting cliffhanger! I'm mostly worried about Sunshine, but I'm also waiting for the surprise twist that shows us she's okay.

I enjoyed seeing the crew of women defend themselves so well; there is a nice amount of levity to the scene that keeps it entertaining as a read. My favorite part was the two who slipped aboard the enemy ship to sabotage it. However, I was unpleasantly surprised to see it all come to nothing by the end though, as the attacking pirates have regrouped behind their leader. I don't like the attitude of these men (especially their leader), but we're not supposed to like them -- they are sleazeballs in many ways. I hate that after all she's been through, Katie is still naive enough to trust their leader, especially since she's dealt with him before. That being said, I look forward to her (hopefully) defeating him while she's injured, which would really show him up ... but I'm worried the story will have her defeated for the sake of the bigger plot.

This second issue kicks things up with action on a few fronts, as well as the anxiety! I'm more worried about all of them than I am excited or curious. This still results in my wanting to read more, but for less inviting reasons.
