Credits Writer: Shawn Gabborin Penciler: Michela Da Sacco Inker: Michela Da Sacco Colorist: Rosa "Rosakaz" Rantila Cover Artist: Michela Da Sacco Grade: 8 The psychic and Betty explore some of Betty's early and painful memories. Things take a turn after Betty snaps out of it and draws her gun.
This issue is super insightful into who Betty is and how she got where she is. Her powers appeared in an emotional teenage moment and ended in tragedy. Interestingly, this is the only tattoo that doesn't seem to have a connection to a monster ... but I'm not sure what that means. The additional tragedies and hard judgement calls that followed this are in line with what I'd expect. I like that Betty isn't bothered by the memories themselves as much as the psychic viewing them without permission. I love Betty's acceptance of her past and how it shaped her. I like the subdued and more earth-tone coloring of the memories; it keeps them grounded and separate without looking like typical flashbacks.
The twist at the end is something I did not see coming, and I love it all the more because of it. Betty sure knows how to take full advantage of a situation for both the business and personal sides!
The Musty Man makes an appearance. His monologue has piqued my curiosity even more. Whatever he is and whatever he's up to, his creepiness is tangible through the page. I'm on pins and needles to see what happens when he and Betty meet.
