Belle fights her mother, who is a better fighter. Belle, Mel, and Alex escape and get some answers.

The fight that opens this issue and fills most of it is hit-or-miss. Some panels are well done and full of energy and decent-to-good mechanics. It's not that other panels are bad, but there are things that distract me from the read. This includes Belle's internal monologue (her head is so not in the fight), and anatomic issues. Sadly, this issue has some panels that would fall under what we call "bizarre breasts". This includes a lot of airbrushed orbs stuck to the chest, and the oh-so-classic broken back. We're even given a close-up to see how Belle's stick-on-boobs are separated unnaturally by her outfit (though it doesn't appear to do it in other panels). And what's with the fingernails on the mom's armor? That's a weird and freaky detail that serves no purpose I can see.

I like that we get some explanation backstory for the beast, Alex, and that he's redeemed. The redemption scene is my favorite, as it plays up the climax (in a similar manner, even with the details being different, to Disney's animated movie, from which this story takes many inspirations).

This issue concludes this arc. It wraps up some loose ends, provides some answers, and provides a path forward with unfinished business and new, related business to take care of. I would probably read more, but I'd want to know what this series would do to continue to embrace the Beauty and the Beast aspects (beyond codenames and costumes) rather than just becoming another of Zenescope's monster-hunter comics. I do like how Belle's best friend Mel is accepted into the conspiratorial fold and even given a job to do that helps Belle and makes Mel a more integral player (rather than the damsel she was in this arc).
