While the world reals from the revelation of the existence ort demons, Mephisto takes Rin back in time to learn about his mother -- and Father Fujimoto. Also, something big seems to be going on with Shiemi and the Vatican, and Yukio begins a new role.

Sometimes I have a hard time telling who's who, (probably because the cast seems huge, and hair colours seem to change), and sometimes faces look a little wonky, but on the whole, I like the art

I haven't really read enough of the series to really grasp who's who and what's going on, but since the bulk of this volume is a flashback that introduces people, I was able to enjoy it a great deal! Yuri (Arin's mom) and Fujimoto are both appealing (even with Fujimoto being constantly cranky), and I enjoy the development of them as individuals, and their relationship, over the years. Also, there's an exciting, game-changing reveal! And Mephisto is pretty intriguing himself-- I'm still not clear on whether he's good or bad, but he has a certain charm. This flashback story isn't complete in this volume; while I have some idea of how it ends, I look forward to actually seeing how it plays out. And really, despite my being fuzzy on the details, I'm intrigued by Yukio and Shiemi's respective situations as well!
