Lucy Claire, the Wolf Hunter, was once a celebrated hero. Now she's slandered, defamed, and missing her children, but the re-emergence of the wolves means she's needed once again.

I admit to being frustrated that yet another story has emerged to paint wolves and werewolves as evil. But, I am curious to learn the particulars of this werewolf lore, including why they seem to want to kill indiscriminately.

I like the order this comic is presented in; it's very much a horror story. There's an opening death-hook and an introduction of the supporting cast, with both scenes giving some important information about the main character. There's even some B-movie humor. Then, the main character is introduced through a tragic dream and a not-so-pleasant lifestyle. The visions of her children seem to be screaming that something terrible has happened to them. If I had to guess, I'd say they were dead, but the blurb on Image's site about this comic suggests otherwise. The supporting characters seem to be mostly teenagers. Lucy having had three kids is what tells us she's older, though how much older is unclear. How long has she been gone / thought dead?

The action scenes are nicely done. The comic starts by showing us things that indicate violence and death without showing it directly -- like blood splatter and screams coming from a diner we no longer see inside of. By the end, we get to see Lucy kicking werewolf butt, with lots of blood splatter on her and everything around her. The fight is intense and shows us she's got more strength than the average human, but it also shows us she's still dealing with some PTSD with regards to her kids. It's well written and rendered.

I love that most of the cast are POC, including Lucy. The character designs are varied, with the art style painting them as realistic caricatures. I especially love the natural hair. I am trying to figure out what the heck the Asian kid is wearing and why they remind me of Pinocchio ....

I'm intrigued enough to want to know more.
