ISBN: 9781974712564 Grade: 10 Five God Candidates seek out the sixth (the last), hoping to convince them to agree with their choice of who should be God -- but the game changes in a big way when they finally meet. How will the rest of the world react?
This volume, with art as beautiful as ever, features fascinating philosophical discussions of the nature of God, what a God should want to do, and how God affects and is affected by humanity. This sort of thing is my narrative bread and butter!
I'm significantly underwhelmed by three of the God Candidates (downright horrified by one of them, even), including the candidate the five have chosen. I appreciate that person's wishes, but am disturbed by part of someone's reasoning for supporting them, and they don't seem to have any position on any other issues. Red gives the best response, from my perspective, as to what God should do. I also respect his reasoning on a change of heart he has. A lot of good points are made from multiple perspectives! But I find I have the most in common philosophically with the sixth candidate (whose notions some may find quite upsetting). What they say vibes strongly with my own beliefs ... but I highly question some of their actions!
