When Lady Mary falls ill, Routa (a human reincarnated as a dog) reluctantly goes on a mission with Zenobia to procure a special herb -- from a dragon!

The art is so-so -- cute enough in general, but nowhere near good enough to warrant the bathing scenario of opening chapter! Not only are the body mechanics unappealingly distorted at times (like how Mary appears flat-chested, but her tits seem to end almost at the bottom of her ribs), but there are moments where the nipples are bared ... yet invisible! Just draw hair or steam over them; the women look creepy with nippless breasts!

And, well, having something of a harem scenario with a dog -- including with a cat going spread-eagled in front of him -- is a bit weird (at least Routa's sentient and formerly human).

Thankfully, the story gets better once we dive into the medicine quest. Well, save that there are moments when it's a little hard to understand -- sometimes in the sense of the panels being hard to read, and sometimes in the sense of characters' mindsets being a bit mystifying. It doesn't help that, having missed the first volume (this is a review copy), and there being no intro pages, I wasn't clear on some details from the get-go, like who can actually understand Routa (I believe it's only Doctor Hecate and other animals, but I could be wrong).

Routa trying to make himself understood to avoid misunderstandings between Zenobia and others is often cute -- and also gets heartbreaking at a point when things frustratingly awry! Zenobia's violent impulses are, frankly, maddening! But she also has some wonderfully angsty moment, and dies show some growth. I just wish I understood why she needed to cover for Routa at one point -- why would people knowing what he had done with the dragon have been a problem?

All in all, it's a fairly cute and moderately humorous manga, but a little eye-rolling, too. It has potential, but hasn't quite met it yet.
