This is quite an enjoyable second issue.
The pacing is a bit fast. The heroes get through the obstacles fairly quickly. Given the set-up for this scene, I expected more booby-traps. However, the very real sense of danger keeps it relatively realistic, and the comment about how the Luck Dagger seems to work keeps it very interesting. Poor Sally; though her involvement does paint Becstar as a bit of a jerk, it's hard to keep seeing her take the brunt of things.
I love the tender moment of raw, honest, emotion from Becstar upon having to answer the security question posed by the holographic version of Anyssa. I also love that the holographic Anyssa is at least a little sentient, which adds something to the scene.
I love the design of the "living gem". It almost has a Pokemon-like feel, only more dangerous. The trap's design is surprisingly cutesy -- so much so, that it's not scary, even though it hurt someone.
I appreciate seeing what the enemy does while the heroes are busy doing all this. Given what Becstar is doing, the enemy realizes there's an opportunity to let Becstar do the hard work, but there's still a cliffhanger that has me wondering what the bad guys are up to exactly.
