ISBN: Grade: 6 Irian Jod is one of 100 boys and girls trained to fight in a kind of holy war. The Devil's army wants them all destroyed, and these children will be the only thing standing in their way. But what ill effect could it have if the Pope used black magic to win?
This sci-fi twist to the ageless battle between good and evil is different than any I've read before. You wouldn't think using black magic against demons would be very sucessful, but that's what the general idea is. The art is fluid, seeming detailed even though it's not. We're given a little information regarding why the kids were trained, but no information on why the Devil's army wants to annihilate them all. The demons are interesting characters that I would like to know a little more about, but these magically charged children are what it's really about now. This could turn into a real interesting story, but we'll just have to read and see.
