Rating: none Grade: 9 Captain Dylan Hunt of the starship Andromeda Ascendant, has lost everything he has ever known everything except his faithful "living" ship. Now he and a crew of five thrown together by happenstance, travel through space with one underlying mission to reestablish the Commonwealth and thus restore peace. That may prove more challenging than it sounds because Captain Hunt has no hope of creating peace in space if he cannot make peace on his ship.
The first disc contains the first three episodes, and the second contains the next two episodes and believe me, if you aren't hooked after the first episode, you will be after the first five. Five episodes allows you to really get a feel for the characters and the storyline. Captain Hunt (played by Kevin Sorbo) is the idealistic captain and leader that every good quest seems to have, but circumstances have altered his life in such a way as to prevent him from becoming the perfect example. Twists of fate certainly threw some interesting characters together. Trance is ... well, they don't really know what she is, and that mystery only adds to her likability as a character. The story too, while having the "basic" space-quest premise of one crew sets out to right the universe, is altered by the time warp and the philosophies of the various characters. Never before have I seen the Nietzchean philosophy used so well or in such a unique way. Overall, Andromeda promises to be an extraordinary sci-fi adventure ... one that I don't plan to miss out on.
