Phineus and his team of paranormal investigators get in pretty deep with a Cthulu case and Phin has a heart attack. Six months later, he is physically recovered, but psychologically he's still recuperating. His wife, among others convinces him to get back to work (and no he doesn't do birthday parties). Then, one of his fellow paranormal investigators shows up and drags him off to deal with a mysterious problem.

The art is pretty good and so it the story. Despite having begun in the middle of everything, I was able to follow it all thanks to a little "story so far" page at the beginning. However, this issue seems to be a transition issue and nothing is really developed in it. I really like Phineus' character design — it fits him. Overall, Phineus seems like it will be an interesting series, but this particular issue is a little lacking in plot development.
