Two very important turns in the story occur in this book. First, Kaguya is kidnapped by Prince Seeu, and second, Shiina has become the master of Pyro, one of the three living weapons ... but in return she must agree to fight under Emperor Kura. Both girls do some maturing, while we learn some very interesting things about Seeu and those he works with ...

I know he's the "bad" guy, but I really love Prince Seeu — and he looks so peaceful when he sleeps. I'm also glad to see that Kaguya is growing up some and taking on her role in all of this; she really needed a little more spine than she's had. I loved this story before, but somehow it's gotten even better. Both the characters and the story itself are really developing. Planet Ladder is turning out to be one of the best fantasy manga out there; it stands apart from the rest with it's uniqueness.
