A man is possessed by an ancient computer. His angry spirit along with Kazu's gaming disk opens a portal to a digital world of lust, violence, and sex into which Kazu, Midori, and their friends get sucked. It is partially a game world so they must beat it to find their way home. However, beating the game seems to require sexual acts that Kazu and Midori seem reluctant to undertake.

Toshio Maeda is known as the creator of such series as Urotsukidoji and La Blue Girl. This new series, Adventure Kid, is still his "erotic grotesque" manga style that is held together with some kind of plot. Having been exposed to some of his other work, I must say that I'm impressed with the storyline in this first book of Adventure Kid. Making a manga that combines hentia and computer games is nothing new, but Maeda does more than just bring a sex game to life — he ties it to the real world including real and game characters as well as making the computer itself possessed. That's a pretty interesting plot twist if you ask me!

The art is exceptional with fairly well-drawn private parts, as well as exaggerations of a sort that work for some of the game charactes. It is graphic, but it's not in your face extreme. In fact, most of the sex in this first book is done by Kazu's dad, and that seems to be in this book just because it can be — it serves no purpose unlike the sexual scene in the computer. As of yet, there's no tentacles, but there are demons with some rather interesting desires.

I'm looking forward to seeing where Maeda takes this series. It's hentai with plot — and I'm not talking a semblance of a plot thrown in to hold the sex together, I'm talking about an actual plot which makes Adventure Kid an enjoyable read on multiple levels. Check it out — you'll get sucked in too.
