Credits Grade: 9 Yorn's world has been turned upside-down, and he is suddenly thrown into a quest that he doesn't fully comprehend with companions as mysterious as his quest. In the sky, two Edens float, from which he and his companions are watched and hunted. They call Yorn a God Hunter, and maybe he is...When I first saw the cover, I wasn't too impressed — semi-cute kid and elf characters on the cover and chibi versions on the back. However, I put it in to watch anyways, and I am so glad I did! Eden's Bowy is a little swords-and-sorcery, a little religious/mythological, and 100% fun quest-adventure. The chibi versions were not overly present which was good, and they did add to the humor. The art in general is very good as is the story. Something I found to be interesting was the resemblances Eden's Bowy shares with some well-known anime. For instance, the relationship between Yorn and his elfish friend reminds me of Parn and Deedlit, while Hairra and Witto remind me of Miyu and Larva — especially since Witto wears a half-mask, doesn't talk, watches/helps from the sides, and wraps Hairra in his cloak to protect her. Hairra also sports some claws very similar to Lady Deathstrike's. I love the music in this anime. It fits just right with accordian music adding to the atmosphere in the flashbacks. Both the sub and dub are quite good. I still lean more for the sub personally, but either works. This DVD doesn't have much in the way of extras, but it does contain five wonderful episodes so it works out ok. Don't miss out on this new adventure — it looks like one that will get real interesting real fast. Written: July 1, 2003
