Translator: Grade: 10 This series is stunning from beginning to end. I sat mesmerized through these last five episodes (watching the dub), and then watched it again with the sub. The ending is filled with a lot of important information and symbolism so I partially watched it both ways to compare the dialogues and partially because this series has both an excellent sub and dub! The dialogue for both is practically verbatim (which is bonus points with me). If you normally watch only one or the other — sub or dub — you really ought to watch The Devil Lady once the other way — both versions are that good.
In these final episodes, the war between humans and beasts is building up to a battle that surpasses them all — a battle between God and Devil. Man hopes for God and the beasts hope for the Devil, but which is the true hope for all? Only one will change the fate of man and beast alike...
Go Nagai is truly a masterful storyteller. Never before have I been so captured by a series (especially with both sub and dub). This is a horror story but not like any horror you've seen before. This is not "scare-you-silly" horror; it is more of an underlying fear and suspense that refuses to let you turn away when things go bad or the battles get gorey. When it ended, I almost wished there was more to it — not because it didn't end well, but because I had become so engrossed in the story and with the characters. Do not miss this powerful conclusion to an unbelievable series! The Devil Lady is a must-have!
