Shuuya and Nuriko narrowly escape death from their classmates, and are joined by their rescuer: Kawada. He's a bad-ass with a good heart, and he is able to do what neither Shuuya nor Nuriko can — look at the situation realistically and realize he will have to kill those who are playing. With his help, there's a real hope for their plan of breaking "The Program" and surviving as a team. But for those who are playing, the game is getting better ... and more of their classmates are now dead.

Battle Royale is addictive. Whether you find it disgustingly sadistic or wonderfully twisted you wont be able to stop reading. The realism it imparts is so exceptional, your adrenaline will rush like you too are in their life-or-death situation. There are some touching scenes as well as gorey ones. Everyone has their own reason for fighting the system, giving up, or playing the game — some with much better reasoning than others. Emotions are laid bare, and are drawn with such excellence the reader actually feels them. This is the type of story where once you get sucked in — and you will — you wont get back out. Don't dare miss out on the most controversial manga you'll ever read!
