This is one of those series you just have to rave about! Full Metal Panic! volume one left us on quite a cliff-hanger so I was eagerly watching the beginning of this volume. Sousuke Sagara doesn't realize how hard he's falling for Chidori — the girl he's supposed to protect — and now he's off to rescue her which is disobeying his orders to wait. Chidori ends up rescuing him in a way thanks to the unusual military knowledge she possesses (but is unaware of) as a Whispered. Then, things go back to normal ... or at least normal for Sagara and Chidori.

If you love mechs and technological mech battles, you'll love this series. It has your typical mechs with guns, but it also has those with super technology using the pilots will and emotions to strengthen invisible walls, weapons, and overall mech fighting ability. If you love non-sappy romance and good humor then you'll love this series. The fact that Sousuke has lived in a military bubble his whole life and so knows nothing about relating to civilians in general, let alone girls. He is beginning to open up, feel his emotions, and show interest in a girl, but he has no clue how to relate to them (and much less of a clue than your typical guy). That and his determination to protect Chidori from shady characters (like the classmate who asked her out) with military force will have you rolling with laughter. The battle scenes are amazing with animation techniques on a blockbuster level, and the mechs (especially the high-tech ones) have great designs.

The character designs and art are wonderful. The mechs are wonderfully designed and the main characters are very memorable due to their unique looks and personalities. Both the sub and dub are excellent! I watched the first two episodes dubbed and the last two subbed, and I must say that the sub is quite impressive. There is not one voice match-up for me to complain about in either version, and I actually prefer a few of the English voices.

If you haven't seen this amazing series, then you're missing out. It's superb on so many levels, and is so balanced that anyone of both genders can enjoy it. Rent or buy it, but don't miss it!
