Bride of Deimos is a rather goofy horror story about a young teenage girl who is constantly pursued by a love-sick demon. The first volume of the story was actually quite compelling, believe it or not, because of the set up of pursuit. The second volume is just a tad silly in places, but some of the stories still have the requisite chills. The rewrite of Poe's House of Usher is not half bad, for instance. The story of two rival sisters and the deadly consequences of their rivalry also works quite well. My favorite story of this book, however, is a twisted rewrite of Thumbelina that puts her in the real world. It's a tad sick, a tad twisted, and quite atmospheric.

While I didn't enjoy this volume of Bride of Deimos as much as the first one, I really enjoy the series, in general. As horror goes, it reads well, with originality papering over any rough spots. I'd probably read the other volumes of the series, if I needed some light reading that I know will deliver an enjoyable experience.
