Season 1 of the sci-fi series Farscape was ok. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't in any hurry to see more. Well, after watching the first four episodes of Season 2, I am definitely in the mood to see more.

Two discs with two episodes each contain "The Way We Weren't", "Picture if You Will", "Home on the Remains", and "Dream a Little Dream". In "The Way We Weren't", Aeryn and Pilor must face their dark pasts surrounding the murder of Moya's previous Pilot. Then, in "Picture if You Will", Chiana returns with a picture that changes to fortell the future and cause harm to them all. Zhaan must face the enemy to save them all. In "Home on the Remains", starvation sets in aboard Moya, and Zhaan starts spouting buds with toxic pollen. To get food, they must go to Chiana's old home, a mining colony on the ancient carcass of a Budong, but there is a beast they must deal with as well as her "friends". Finally, in "Dream a Little Dream", Zhaan reveals to Crichton what happened when they had to starburst away (at the end of Season 1) leaving him, D'Argo, and Aeryn behind. She is framed for murder on the planet of Litigara, and it is up to Chiana and Rygel to save her.

One of the things I like the best about Season 2 is the blooming romance between D'Argo and Chiana. I personally think D'Argo rocks! These episodes really move the series forward while also bringing us up-to-date on what happened after the starburst away at the end of Season 1. I was a little surprised that that wasn't addressed till episode four of this new season, but things progressed in a logical manner otherwise. "Picture if You Will" was my favorite episode because for a while it really had the science-fiction working hard with an almost Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits feel to it, but managed to bring it back to the Farscape storyline with the enemy behind it all.

The actors all do an excellent job! And the characters are all rather complex and real. I like that not all the aliens are humanoid (Rygel and Pilot), which is one reason "The Way We Weren't" is such a good episode — it focuses on the Leviathan's pilots and provides an understanding of that species as well as a better look at the rest of Pilot's body. There are also some really nice extras, including deleted scenes, conceptual artwork, a look at the guns and ships, and a dictionary of technical Farscape terms. If this DVD set is any indication, Season 2 should be quite good. If you haven't a clue about Farscape and you like science-fiction, then check it out.
