After their divorce, the girl he was with comes to live with Natsu to hide from him, and an angel also moves in. Together they learn to move on, and their lives take on new meaning. The other three stories in this book "God Only Knows", "Tea Time", and "A Gift From the Heavens" are more along the romance lines with some intimate relationships including one (non-graphic) sex scene.
Ok, the eyes are little creepy, and the faces are a little bland, and there's more detail put into some of the backgrounds than into the characters themselves, but other than that the art is rather appealing to the eye. It has a nice quality and a different flavor than most of the manga art out there. It's almost like Erica Sakurazawa is trying to make it appear a bit more realistic and not so "cartoon-ish" which does fit with these semi-romantic "day-in-the-life-of" stories. The cover image comes from one of the extra stories and not from the title story so that's a bit random, but it also fits the topics within angel nest since it's not really about angels.
The stories themselves are fascinating on some level. They are semi-realistic and the characters learn something and improve their lives which is a rare thing when the stories are trying to portray relationships gone wrong or real-life screwed-up relationships. Fascinating I tell you. I can also tell you that if you're looking for sugary-sweet romance, fluff, or sex you might want to look elsewhere. While it has a sense of innocence about it, angel nest is not just some piece o' fluff romance manga. There is adultry, illegal activities, and relationships both straight and gay (while the gay guy is a main character, he's not pursuing his straigh guy friend — in short, it's well-done, realistic, and fitting with the story).
If you're looking for a darn good read with fairly good artwork then check out angel nest. It wont take you're breath away, but it will keep you interested and thinking.
