ISBN: 158664889-6 Grade: 9 Miko Mido's friends and her mother have all been kidnapped by an evil cosmic deity from a parallel universe, and only Miko can save them. However, in order to bring them back alive, Miko must endure several sexual "trials" handed her by Taijuten, the deity herself. Even if she makes it through such trials, Miko will still have to find her own way out of Taijuten's parallel universe—the orgasmiverse. In the final 1/3 of the book, Miko takes a stroll down memory lane, recalling adventures of the past in which she teaches some horny biker gang members a lesson they won't forget, and later meets a tricky Miko look-alike on the beaches of Guam. All in all, a funny and interesting 18+ read.
This is the best La Blue Girl book yet. Previous volumes simply do not compare. It only serves to prove my earlier theory that Toshio Maeda's books get better later in each of the series. Until now, only the La Blue Girl manga has disappointed me. So what makes Volume Five so special? I'll tell you. Good art, actual plot with surprises along the way, and best of all dirty humor that hits home.
Oh, the wonders of tentacle porn. These characters have no shame, and neither does their creator! Aside from the usual mess of busy hands and dripping privates, this volume depicts several scenes of actual sex. I kid you not. Wow, finally La Blue Girl goes beyond machine rape and freaky monster sex. Volume Five has scenes of Miko copulating and loving it. Not to mention an appearance by a bitchy S&M mistress, Miko's perverted grandma, and the Shikima king himself.
Did I mention the humor is priceless? I read Volume Five straight through without stopping, laughing so hard I nearly cried by the time I reached the ending. One thing I apparently failed to notice when I reviewed Volume Four back in November was the sudden appearance of page numbers for the first time (which Volumes 1-3 had been lacking). Volume Five continues this legacy of page numbering that started last volume. (After all my bitching before, how did I miss that?!) It seems I have been making an impact with my little complaints. Thank you, Manga18 crew. You guys rule.
To me, the best thing about this book is the use of bisexual jokes and undertones, which came as both a pleasant and entertaining surprise. You don't see much of that in straight hentai, and so far the only other series I've seen to cross that line is Adventure Kid. Second favorite is the orgasmiverse (which speaks for itself) and finally, an incredibly hilarious scene in the third chapter in which Miko plays a dirty trick on a vicious biker gang. I keep going back to read it, because I can hardly believe a hentai would portray something that a woman like me can find that funny. It is adult humor though, and that means anything goes. This is the kind of entertainment you just can't find anywhere else.
While I don't recommend it to a novice, La Blue Girl Volume Five is a great book for the experienced hentai reader looking for something different with a unique style of humor. Sure, there must be better hentai out there somewhere, but it can't be easy to find.
