Translator: Grade: 10 The final DVD in the Excel Saga series is the aptly named last episode as well — "Going WAY too far!" There are four "real" episodes and one "extra" episode and it all takes some pretty interesting twists and turns before going over the edge. Believe it or not (and I'm still doubtful after watching) there's a gagless episode!! I'm tempted to watch it again just to see if I missed one... As a huge Excel/Ilpalazzo shipper I was extremely mad at the outcome of episode 23, but was made happy again at the end of episode 25. No, I'm not saying any more than that, just go watch it already!
Things actually come to somewhat of a conclusion which is only disappointing because that means no more Excel! The parodies of other anime, Japanese TV shows, and Japanese culture continue. Some are extremely recognizable and very hilarious like Puchuu versions of Galaxy Express, afro versions of Dragonball Z (complete with a "Nabe-Hame-Ha" attack after the 'fro grows), Gundam, Black Jack, Fist of the Northstar, and a continuation of the sentai team parody complete with a very phallic-ly enhanced giant robot. I could not stop laughing when I saw that robot or the "Nabe-Hame-Ha" attack — they are priceless! The last episode is the topper though. Excel Excel becomes super violent, Hyatt spews more blood than she could hold, and some of the guys almost get the girls they want; there are breasts, very horny manequins, and lots of Mynchi copying all the movements of everyone else (and I do mean all!).
I love the end credits to Excel Saga and will watch them almost every time. Whether you do or not, you have to watch them at least once and then watch them for the very last episode (let's just say the lyrics get a few new meanings after the other sexual innuendoes and actions of the last episode). As it has been throughout, both the sub and dub are exceptional. Anyone who can speak that fast, with that much energy in any language deserves appreciation. I prefer the Japanese seiyuu but am perfectly happy listening to the dub as well. There are also AD-Vid Notes which provide insights into puns, jokes, and parodies. I only watched them for two of the five episodes. They do tend to get in the way but they are very informative so you need to watch the series once without and then once with to get everything.
Excel Saga is the most insane anime I've ever seen. For any anime fan it's a must because of all the parodies if nothing else. It will have you rolling with laughter from the start. And this last episode ... no words can describe. It has gone way too far, and I loved every bit of it.
