Credits Grade: 9 I forgot exactly how insane the Excel Saga anime is until I got the box set (aka the IMPerfect Collection). I fell in love with its hyjinks all over again. Yes, there are a few things here and there that still irk me (mainly the spanish-y slang in one dubbed episode), but this anime is just unbelievably good. It's like no other anime out there, and yet, it parodies just about every anime out there. Don't let that paradox boggle the mind, rather just laugh as your favorite characters from other anime get twisted for a more humorous portrayal.This is six DVDs with a total of 26 episodes, but that's not all! You also get all the great extras and "easter eggs" that ADV threw in. Feel like you're missing some of the cultural references and puns? Never fear! ADV has solved that problem by providing the option of turning on AD-Vid Notes to pop up during the show and explain things! Every episode is a different genre building up to the "gagless" episode and the extreme episode on the sixth DVD. Whether you're a dub fan or a sub fan (or *gasp* even like some of both), this series will amaze you for any of the above. The task of voicing Excel alone is mind boggling (especially for the English voice actor to compare to the Japanese), but they all do a marvelous job. The sub is my favorite, but the dub is really excellent too. Excel Saga is the ultimate comedy! There's so much thrown into the chaos that you have to watch it more than once, but it's so funny and so original that you'll want to watch it over and over. If you don't own Excel Saga already, your sanity is still in place, but you're missing out on one of the best anime every to be created (thanks to all the anime that came before and must be parodied).
