Credits Grade: 9 If you've kept up with Dragon Knights to this point, you must read this volume! Talk about jaw-dropping twists! Rath is shrouded in mystery and secrets, and in this volume he confronts the one-eyed demon for the last time which reveals something very important concerning the office of Fire Knight. Cesia is taken into Kai-Stern's confidence concerning the Wind Knight and vows to help him, but things get complicated as Shydeman, Shyrendora, and Kharl interfere. Then, the Star Princess appears to tell Kai-Stern and Cesia the grim truth about the Wind Knight and Dragon. Meanwhile, Rath is confronted by Kharl and some rather unpleasant memories are unearthed...Dragon Knights is one of my all-time favorite manga! Mineko Ohkami's art it one-of-a-kind with eyes that can chill, haunt, and enthrall. There is a grace and power in her images that I can't get enough of. The story itself is powerful and full of demons, elves, dragons, fairies, and humans — many of which are not what they seem at first. While all of the characters are marvelously well developed and complex, the story tends to revolve around Rath as he is the most conflicted chataracter (kind of a tragic hero type, though he's not always likable). This manga takes the genre of fantasy to a whole new level. The storytelling leaves many fantasty novels in the dust, and the art breathes a mystical life into it. If you want a new manga series to pick up, check out Dragon Knights — however, it is one series that must be read from the beginning. With every volume the story grows more and more amazing with a depth that it doesn't appear to have at first. Written: February 28, 2005
