There was a lot of hype around Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but I try not to listen to hype and just view a film with no preconceptions. For Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I knew some of the story: both were spies working for different places and hired to kill each other. It's a formula like in some comic books where characters meet, become friends, an event forces them to fight, then there's a warm-fuzzy moment at the end with the resolution. So, this wasn't anything new to me. I kind of figured out a lot of the plot after they tied the knot, but it was still fun to watch things unfold on the screen.

Pitt made a fun, likable spy. He wasn't exactly James Bond, but more of a Remington Steele type - meaning he was pretty and tough, but not very suave. He was convincing as a spy and I'd like to see him in this role again. After seeing how he reacted and the chemistry between he and Angelina Jolie, it's easy to see why they became a couple after the film. They seemed comfortable with each other and like a couple you could see together - even if the circumstances of their marriage were a little unbelievable. I mean if you work for a spy agency that has a hand in everything, chances are one of their bosses would have come up with the information that linked the two to secret organizations. It would seem a thorough background check would have been done before any wedding vows were exchanged, but it was a movie, so I can't get too into that.

I won't lie, there were some parts of this film that were very dry and tedious to watch, but the non-stop fight scene at the end made up for some of the slower moments. Jolie's had lots of experience as an ass-kicking femme fatale and she was more than adequate to portray Mrs. Smith. Heck, I'm still hoping we'll see her as the new Indiana Jones. I think she'd be awesome. She played her role part Charlie's Angels, part Alias, but it worked for her.

What I wish there were more of were the romantic moments. I think their relationship outside of their "day jobs" wasn't explored as well as it could have been in the allotted time. Again, I know things were done to advance the story, but I just didn't feel like I knew that much about them. And I realize they are spies and supposed to be mysterious, but I feel like I just didn't get enough inside information to really care about what happened to either of them. That might of been on purpose, but I like to feel vested in the characters. The whole film seemed like it could have been something in a comic book - it had that kind of feel to it, but not too campy or outrageous.

Would I like to see a sequel? Sure! This was a movie that everyone could enjoy, but did have a lot of violence so keep that in mind if watching with younger viewers.
