I have to give Negadon props for being the first completely computer generated monster movie. The CG effects are exceptional. There are many scenes that look unbelievably realistic, especially scenes involving machines or the monster and robot. The people are very realistic too, but still have the appearance of being CG — a bit like a well-done computer game and quite different than something like Final Fantasy. The fact that the CG is so well done is the reason I scored it as high as I did.

The story itself pales in comparision with even the Godzilla take-offs and "sequels". Set in the near future (2025), mankind is venturing into space and a returning ship crashes in Tokyo unleashing Negadon (who we are to assume was captured?). Japan calls on Dr. Narasaki and his giant robot Miroku to battle Negadon and save the world from destruction. Original? no. Entertaining? eh, somewhat. It just wasn't as fun to watch as all the old classic monster movies from Japan. The monster and robot designs were also less than captivating. I lost interest in it long before it was over (and it's only a 70 minute movie!).

Voice acting for both sub and dub were well done, but neither was anything special. The extras include an interview with the director, a making of, two film shorts (very short and about as interesting as the movie itself ... which isn't saying a lot), and an art gallery. Basically, if you're a huge monster movie buff you will want this in your collection, but if you're not you'll do better with a mech anime or the old monster movie classics.
