Credits Writer: Fred Perry Cover Artist: Fred Perry Grade: 8 Gina and her digger team strike a deal with Team Elite in order to gain access to Uhm Di Turrok (the Hall of the Dead). Neither team wants to share, but both realize neither will gain anything unless they do. Issac Elite, leader of Team Elite, has a bit of a problem however, a curse that could be the end of them all. Then, when Gina finally gains access to the Tablet, she realizes its secret.
Gold Digger is an excellent read, and one of my favorites. Every character is distinct in such a way that makes the reader love them, hate them, or just sympathize with them. In this issue Issac Elite has a Jeckle-Hyde complex going on that gives a nice twist to the story. It's almost like a purple Hulk, virtually indestructable and mad as all get-out! However, his girl Dana Dane is one of those characters you want to hate but can't say exactly why. In many respects she is the stereotypical fantasy farm girl (amazing body in skimpy overalls complete with accent), but her accomplishments and intellect go against that. These two and their relationship to each other and those around them adds much to this issue.
The mini-comic within Gold DiggerGD, "Pink Slip," is slowly getting better (better as in more tolerable). However, I have yet to figure out why exactly it's included. Whether an avid fan or a first-time reader, this issue is not to be missed.
