Milfeulle, Mint, Ranpha, Forte, and Vanilla are the beautiful and talented Angel Troupe, pilots of the mecha: Emblem Frame. They have been assigned to protect Prince Shiva, the sole survivor of a coup d'etat. To protect him, they join with Takuro Meyers' ship and crew — now let the adventures begin.

The story itself is not anything unique or terribly creative; in fact, it's more of the same-old, same-old space-drama stuff. Basically we have five very different and very cute girls (one for every fetish/taste) who pilot mechs in space, throw in a giant cow and make at least one girl a bit ditzy/clumsy and that provides comedy. Then you add a somewhat-incompetent male captain, and, well, you get the idea. It's enjoyable, it's funny, and the art is fairly good but it's just lacking any real substance or reason to read it. And even though they're mech pilots, there's no battle action in this volume. Actually, there's not much of anything in this volume other than getting the story and characters set up and visiting one world. If I'm going to read something along the lines of this premise I'd pick up something like Tenchi Muyo! or Nadesico instead. Cute just isn't enough.
