Earl Cain is tormented by a girl made to look like someone dear to him that is dead. His servant Riff is caught up in the mess when a certain doctor shows up on the scene. This mystery hits very close to home, and they must solve it if they are to have peace again - that is if they can survive intact. Then Cain has another run-in with the doctor when he's undercover posing as a model for a woman with a sadistic obsession.

I don't know why I haven't picked up this series of The Cain Saga before! This dark, gothic world swept me away with its breath-taking art and fascinating mysteries. The story is set in 19th century London and the fashion mixes that with a little gothic and gothic lolita flair, added with gorgeous characters with amazing detail in every aspect (just look at the hair!). Kaori Yuki combines mysteries with a little suspense thriller that works to great effect in this setting and style. I was always a little surprised by the outcomes and the twists in each case. Godchild is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. It will appeal to those with a taste for the beauty of the darker side of life.
