Credits Grade: 7 Toru Kuno is the newest transfer student to an all-boy's boarding school. He soon discovers that he has been selected as the newest candidate to become a 'Princess' of the school. Princesses are male students who dress up as girls to perform at various school functions, including cheering on other male students at sports competitions. They add life to the boring life of an all-male school. Toru is initially reluctant to become a Princess, until he learns there are great finacial benefits to being a Princess, including free meals and free school supplies for the entire year a Princess serves. He quickly agrees and meets two other 'Princesses': Yujiro and Mikota. Yujiro enjoys the job of being Princess but Mikoto doesn't, fearing ridicule from his girlfriend.This is a cute series. It just skirts the edges of being yaoi, as none of the three 'Princesses' are interested in each other sexually or romantically. And the other male students only show interest in the boys when they are dressed up as Princesses. While the three 'Princesses' develop a strong friendship, it isn't quite slashable. Watching this anime was a bit of a mind-bender to me as the male students are clearly attracted to the Princesses, both in their male and female forms, yet it is also not a same-sex attraction. In some scenes with the three boys, I sometimes felt they talked like girls, discussing feelings and their relationships with other boys, albeit not in an romantic context.
