Translator: Grade: 7 Re-l, Vincent, and Pino are reunited but danger follows them around every turn. Pino discovers a giant in a cave, then Re-l and Vincent are challenged with a doppleganger. The third episode on this disc is completely random - Vincent is the unwilling participant in a deadly game show with very strange results and questions. The last episode has our trio stuck in dead calm that wont allow their ship to fly; during this span Re-l does much observing and contemplating and the episode narrates like a journal.
Jumping into volume four completely unfamiliar with this series I have to say the first two episodes really hooked me. I absolutely love Re-l. Her psuedo-goth look with that striking blue eyeshadow and her dark attitude give me a character I can really get into. While I still don't know much about the overall plot of the series, I am intrigued by the use of androids (AutoRevs), the Cogito Virus that infects them, and the mysterious proxies (of which Vincent is apparently one). The third episode was kinda funny but really, really random and I get the feeling it would be that way if I had seem the previous 12 episodes as well, but the fourth, introspective/observational episode I'm sure would be much more interesting and telling for those who have seen the beginning of the series.
The art is very nice, with a focus on the character designs and not so much on backgrounds/surroundings - which actually helps the story as they are often in desolate areas that should have such an empty feel. Both sub and dub are excellent, but I found myself draw to the dub for this anime - mainly due to Re-l's voice, but it also seemed to flow better somehow. All in all, I enjoyed this disc enough to want to see more of this anime. If you like something a little darker (ala, Witch Hunter Robin) then you should give Ergo Proxy a watch.
