Hikari Hanazono has been competing with her rival, Kei Takishima, ever since Kei beat her at wrestling when she was six. Kei has always beaten Hikari, but that makes Hikari try even harder.

Both Kei and Hikari are in a special class called 'Special A' in a elite private school. They are an elite of seven among elites. Hikari competes with Kei at athletics, academics and even in tutoring. Towards the end of this manga, it looks like things might take a more romantic turn.

I like that Hikari is a girl driven to succeed, even it is to beat a boy. However, Hikari perpetually striving to beat Kei and failing at it can get old fast, so there are other plots that are thrown into the mix, like Kei having 'fiancee' and difficult to teach little brother. I would presume that eventually there will be a romance between Hikari and Kei.

This is a fairly solid manga, although I will take points off for the extreme repetitiveness of describing Hikari's situation and a bio of all the other members of the Special A class at the beginning of each chapter. I'm not sure why it gets repeated in each chapter, and it annoyed me considerably.
