Credits Grade: 5 Pretty Face is about a young man who gets into a horrible accident and winds up in a coma. When he comes out of it, he finds out that he has undergone plastic surgery that completely transforms his appearance. Because the only photo the surgeon could reference was that of a girl he has a crush on, Rondo ends up looking like her twin sister.When his family rejects him, he finds himself adopted by the girl's family, believing that he is actually her long long twin sister. Rondo, now known as Yumi, keeps up the disguise even at school. The rest of the manga has Yumi getting into a great many fights, to the awe of the other students. He also must fend off the advances of another ass-kicking girl who rejects all males in favor of Yumi. The premise is a bit out there, but I did like the concept of it. The boy who pretends to be a girl is well-worn trope, but in this case, the boy is actually is physically altered to look like a girl. I liked some of the gender-confusing slapstick aspects of it, but it is overshadowed by the 'fan service' elements. One particularly bad mini-story has Yumi testing some kind of body suit with enormous fake breasts in order to earn money. Another has him ask his surgeon about a gift for Rina, who then extolls the virtues of having large breasts. A manga that could have managed to be adult but cute, but is stupidly smutty instead.
