Credits Grade: 3 Emotionless and Yuan-Shan Lan are battling when they discover a spy. Iron Fist and Cold Blooded fight for their lives as they near the evil mastermind behind the killings.Serious. With names like Emotionless, Cold Blooded, Iron Fist, and Life Snatcher, how am I supposed to be able to identify with these characters or see anything realistic (or fantasy-hero) about them? I felt alienated from the first page. The dialogue is very stiff with funny, unusual names for each superhuman battle move called out (I know that is a cultural thing, but it's so much weirder to read it than watch it). The one thing this comic has going for it is the art - if you like this kind of art. The colors are fantastic! Such masterful shading and hues! The physical movements and presence are similar to US super-hero comics (that is actually the best comparison overall for this comic - if you like US superhero comics and like kung-fu movies then you'll love this!). The thing that I really drew the line at though was the drawing and coloring of a myriad of strikes from some attack all swirling around - so unrealistic it crosses the boarder to absurd. I don't equate "super martial arts powers" with "super powers" - give me regular super heroes anyday. I couldn't get into this read at all (and this from a girl who loves old martial arts/samurai movies and anime/manga of all kinds!) Written: November 2, 2008
