Exceptionally intelligent and very young Bean is flown via space shuttle to Battle School, where he meets other children who will also undergo training. Bean immediately starts challenging the boundaries, physical as well as social of life in the Battle School. The instructors and creators watch over Bean, while back on Earth, Sister Carlotta tries to uncover Bean's origins.

I continue to be pleased by the strong characterization, plot, and dialogue of this limited run series. It is one of the most interesting comic series I've read. I can't really see a flaw in the pacing of the evolving plot. The art continues to be perfect for not only the futuristic setting and mood but also manages to illustrate the emotional states of some of the characters. Aside from the slight overuse of other characters telling us about Bean's thinking and behavior, rather than showing us, this was fascinating issue.

I am extremely eager to read the final two issues and I hope the ending is as strong as the beginning.
