Rebecca is attending her adoptive grandfather's funeral where she meets Max, Noah, and Theo. They stumble upon a strange projector in her grandfather's house - a projector that opens a portal to another world. By accident, Rebecca is pulled into that world, and Max bravely goes in after her. Noah and Theo are left to help them back, which becomes an even bigger challenge when the lense to the projector breaks! Meanwhile in this new world, Max and Rebecca must journey to find another way out - but around every corner could be their shadowy death!

I'm absolutely enthralled! The artwork is stunning with vibrant colors to compliment it. The characters are a little cartoony, but in a very good way, and I've seen very few artists convey so much realistic facial expressions and body mechanics - I'm amazed. It moves like you're watching it happen rather than reading. There's a brief mention in the beginning of the fact that Rebecca's black, which is handled masterfully (even if it is a tad bit unneccesary), and then you just sink into the story without care for race, background, or even world. Even though we know nothing about these kid's lives before this, we are suddenly caught up with the curiousity and fear of the moment as their personalities shine through from the very beginning and interact superbly. I adore the physical design of the kids as well as the perosonalities, each one brings something a little different to the story and they are definitely using the thought-processes of kids! The story will appeal to readers of any age. It's kid-friendly with kid heroes so it's a great adventure for the younger audience. Older readers will really appreciate some of the details, and seriously, the art is so fluid and beautifully colored and the story so engulfing you wont want to put it down.

The ElseWhere Chronicles is a French series, that has been translated - and I must thank whoever was in charge of doing that because otherwise I would never have read this wonderfully delightful series. And with full color on every page you really can't turn it down with a price tag of only $6.95! It's easily one of the best new series on the market so don't miss it!
