ISBN: 978-1-4215-3449-7 Grade: 6 Luffy succesfully beats the captain in the Davy Back Fight, gets his points and the crew proceeds on to the Water Seven, a canal-filled land where the crew hopes to find someone to repair their ship. They again meet more wacky, as well as mysterious characters.
After reading a third volume of One Piece in a row, I am getting a bit tired. While this volume was fun to read, it is like an overactive toddler, you get exhausted after a while. The hectic pace, the back-to-back quirky characters, the rapid changes of plot. You also realize that there doesn't seem to be any larger purpose or direction to this series at all.
The only plot that has any real meaning to me is the mystery around the character of Nico Robin. We meet an Admiral who warns the crew against her and when the crew is exploring Water Seven, several more characters show an interest in her. I sort of wish there was more focus on her than the wacky antics of the rest of the crew, who are no more interesting to me than in earlier volumes.
I can't fault the humor, or the action or the vivid characters. However, it is like being on one roller coaster ride after another, you soon get overloaded and simply want it to stop.
