One of my favorite independent creators is young mister Todd Webb. This talented 19 year old has been one of the best parts about the Pittsburgh ComiCon ever since I started attending. He's just a bottle of energy and such a fun guy to talk to. When we first met almost two ComiCon’s ago, he was telling me about his plans for The Stockboy and gave me a preview issue of the series.

I immediately fell in love with this series — partly because I'd worked at two grocery stores for a total of 8 years and knew people like the characters within the series. I had managers who were clueless and just plain mean, I had crushes on co-workers who didn't know I existed, and I had dreams of not doing that forever. So, I could easily relate to the situations and ideas represented within The Stockboy.

Lately Todd's been busy with a lot of other projects: Robot Frank's Life (See a review of that in another part of the report card section of Tart), The Goldfish and Bob, and a ton of other comics and non comics offerings. So, I had little hope of finding another appearance of The Stockboy this Pittsburgh ComiCon. However Todd surprised me with a new mini comic featuring my favorite stockboy.

Poor Stockboy, he's spent a long time stacking a bunch of cereal boxes and built a nice little pyramid. However the store's now open and customers are walking the aisles. Little Old Lady is too short to reach the top of the pile to grab a box, so she grabs from the middle and .... Well, you can imagine what happens.

Ok, so it's not War and Peace, but it is a cute little comic that makes you smile. Todd's talented like that! His books are charming, the stories are fun, and the creator's a riot. He's truly vested in his work and just wants everyone to have a little fun. If you have a chance to meet him at a con, get some of his minis! Also check out his website toddbot.com for more information on all his upcoming projects.
